Course Description:
In addition to the factual narrative, the goals of
the program are to develop an understanding of some of the principal
themes in modem European history as well as an ability to analyze
historical evidence. Areas of study include the intellectual and cultural,
the political and diplomatic, and the social and economic features
of European history. The course begins with the decline of the Middle
Ages (circa 15th Century) and ends in the 1990's. Students become
familiar with the unique developments in each of the larger European
countries as well as events and movements that cut across national
boundaries.
