Walker History and Social Studies Honor Society

Purpose 1) To acknowledge excellence in and passion for the study of social sciences. 2) To support leadership in scholarly studies, particularly in the social sciences. 3) To promote the world of ideas for all students by encouraging the exchange of views on societal topics. Requirements Eligibility Criteria for admission: 1) Completion of two papers at the high school level evaluated to have excellent quality of research. (e.g., Family Research Project at 9th grade and a term paper at grades above 9th) 2) Completion of one advanced studies course and enrollment in at least one additional advanced studies course in the Social Studies curriculum. 3) An unadjusted average of 90% in each course in the Social Studies curriculum. 4) Application for membership. Eligibility Criteria to maintain membership: 1) Enrollment in at least one advanced studies course in the Social Studies curriculum. 2) Maintaining an unadjusted average of at least 85% in each subsequent Social Studies course. 3) Maintaining on overall, unadjusted average in all combined courses of at least 85%. 4) Service to the community through the honor society functions listed below.
